Tony Johnson is a costume designer based in New York City. He is currently the head shopper for Parsons-Meares, LTD. While in New York, he has also designed many shows in the New York City area, such as 39 Steps, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Proof, Equus, The History Boys, and Nell Dash. He designed for The Liar at Gulfshore Playhouse in Naples, Florida and multiple shows for the 2012 and 2013 seasons at the Oklahoma Shakespearean Festival. Other design credits include Más Que Terapia, a play produced by the Cuban National Scenic Arts and the University of Alabama; Alabama Dance Repertory Theatre, City of Angels, St. Joan and Tales of the Lost Formicans for the UA Department of Theatre and Dance; the world premiere of The Raven's Revenge for the UA Opera; and Cabaret at Concordia College. Tony has co-designed costumes with his friend Eddy Barrows for numerous Gooseberry Park Players Productions such as The Wiz and the United States premieres of both A Dszungel Konyve and The Pinafore Pirates as well as Concordia College's production of The Madwoman of Chaillot.
He has assisted David Woolard, Robin McGee, and Heather Milam in New York City. He has also shopped for the Santa Fe Opera, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and John Kristiansen New York Inc.
He graduated in May 2012 from the University of Alabama (UA) with his M. F. A. in Costume Design and Production. He received his BA in Theatre and Art from Concordia College and is originally from Anaconda, MT.
